    Chat With Anita

    Greetings, fellow members

I want to start by thanking everyone for navigating this hectic and challenging summer. Throughout the system, we faced numerous MANDOs and long extensions. As we approach the fall bidding period, we typically see a decline in flight loads; however, we still have a full schedule for the fall.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Union Picnic on August 7th. It was a lot of fun!

I would also like to address concerns regarding the ramp-pulling jet bridges. New language has been introduced in the TWU collective bargaining agreement concerning the operation of jetways. I want to clarify that this does not mean the RADIO AGENT position is going away, it is NOT being eliminated!

One of the primary reasons for this change is to ensure that the jet bridge is pulled in a timely manner when the aircraft is towed (NO PASSENGERS ON BOARD). The TOW crew will be responsible for pulling the jet bridge when an agent is unavailable. This will allow the RADIO AGENT to focus on pulls where TEC OPS are involved. Additionally, this change will help avoid late pulls from the gate, leading to better operations for the entire team.

     According to TWU (ARTICLE 6):

Normal and customary ramp service work associated with other non-company aircraft and other station work, including the operation of jetways, as long as it is not in conflict with any other Collective Bargaining Agreements.

     Per CWA (ARTICLE 4):

For the Customer Service Group, there is work that shall be performed EXCLUSIVELY by CSCs and CSAs, which includes the operation of jetways for purposes of boarding and deplaning passengers.

Finally, please note that the bid will be released on Friday, August 29, 2025. The Union membership meeting is scheduled for September 4th at Dino’s Pizza.

    In unity,

    Anita L Pearson

    President CWA Local 4201
